Privacy and data flow
Engine data flow, local storage, credentials, logs, and telemetry.
PoseForge is local-first, not automatically offline. The application, database, uploaded files, and generated files run on your machine. Whether image content leaves the machine depends on the generation engine you select.
Data-flow matrix
| Engine | What leaves your machine | Destination |
|---|---|---|
| ComfyUI on loopback | Nothing through PoseForge | Your local ComfyUI server |
| Codex CLI | Selected identity images, pose image, prompt, and generation settings | The provider used by the authenticated Codex CLI session |
| Google Antigravity CLI | Selected identity images, pose image, prompt, and generation settings | Google services used by the authenticated Antigravity session |
| OpenAI | Selected identity images, pose image, prompt, and generation settings | OpenAI API |
| Google Gemini API | Selected identity images, pose image, prompt, and generation settings | Google Gemini API |
| Replicate | Selected identity images, pose image, prompt, and generation settings | Replicate and the configured model provider |
| fal.ai | Selected identity images, pose image, prompt, and generation settings | fal.ai |
Review each provider’s terms, retention policy, regional processing, account settings, and rules for images of minors before using that engine. PoseForge cannot control provider-side handling after a request leaves your machine.
Local data
- Uploaded character and pose images, generated outputs, and print assets are
stored unencrypted under
storage/. - Metadata, settings, generation history, and saved credentials are stored in embedded PGlite by default, or in the configured PostgreSQL server.
- Database-backed API keys and ComfyUI workflows are stored in plain text.
.envcredentials are also plain text and are excluded from Git.- Embedded database data persists under
storage/pgliteuntil the user removes it. External PostgreSQL data follows that server's retention policy.
Anyone with access to your operating-system account, project directory, database, backups, or an exposed PoseForge port may be able to access this data. PoseForge has no application-level authentication or authorization.
Telemetry
PoseForge does not include product analytics, advertising trackers, crash reporting, or background telemetry. The Metrics page reads local generation records from the database. Provider engines and installed CLIs may collect their own operational or account data under their respective policies.
Logs
PoseForge logs request IDs, status, duration, engine lifecycle events, and failure summaries. It is designed not to log API keys or image contents, but logs can still contain local paths, provider error text, model names, and other diagnostic metadata. Review and redact logs before sharing them publicly.
Your responsibilities
- Obtain consent from every identifiable adult and consent from a parent or guardian for minors.
- Use ComfyUI on loopback for workflows that must remain fully local.
- Keep PoseForge bound to a trusted machine and network.
- Protect
.env,storage/, external database credentials, backups, and exported logs. - Delete local images and database records according to your own retention needs, and separately follow provider procedures for provider-held data.
